As we begin to close out summer I am realizing that I have put off the official start date of my very FIRST Align Wellness Group since first receiving my ACE Personal Training certificate last DECEMBER. EIGHT entire months.
JANUARY
me: "Perfect timing! The start of a year, so many people will want to do this!"
fear: "Yeah...but you really aren't ready. Plus all these people probably already found their first of the year program anyways. It's already December."
SPRING
me: "Perfect timing! It's the start of SPRING! People always want to get a fresh start for spring!"
fear: "Yeah...but you will be busy this spring with the boys' sports, the end of the school year. Plus you are supposed to be starting grad school. It's not a good time."
SUMMER
me: "Perfect timing! It's SUMMER! Everyone wants to look and feel good in the SUMMER! I can create outdoor workouts for busy moms to do ANYWHERE and meals their families will love that don't take much time at all."
fear: "Yeah...but your husband is deploying in June. Do you have any idea how busy you are going to be? Who do you really think you are anyway? You've now had your PT certificate for 6 months and you haven't even done anything with it."
TODAY
me: "There is no perfect timing. Let's just do this."
fear: "yeah but..."
me: "stop. We're doing this."
(side note-- our very first WOMEN-ONLY Align Group is starting September 3rd. More details coming soon)
It seems like we are always waiting for the perfect time to start something - whether it be going back to school, starting an exercise program, or any other item that's been on that to-do list for much too long. The only thing standing in our way is FEAR.
Sure, we make excuses that it is something else - no time, I'm already too busy, thoughts like what will people think, I'm not good enough to do this... all fear masquerading itself as something else.
What is F E A R keeping you from achieving? Let's fight this monster together.
